World 10

A new strain of influenza H3N2, which appeared in June, is rapidly spreading across the Northern Hemisphere, causing a serious increase in the incidence in a number of countries. In the UK and Canada, the number of infection cases is steadily growing, while Japan has recorded unprecedented record figures.

As reported by BAKU.WS, according to the World Health Organization, H3N2 is spreading at a high rate and has already become the dominant strain in some countries. In the UK, the number of flu cases has tripled compared to last year, and in Tokyo - increased sixfold. In Japan, more than 2,300 schools and kindergartens are partially closed due to the disease outbreak.

Scientists note that this strain belongs to the category of type A influenza. In the US, a large number of positive tests have been registered, however, due to the suspension of government work, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has not published national monitoring data since September.

Specialists emphasize that even if the vaccine does not fully match the new strain, it significantly reduces the risk of hospitalization and the development of complications.
