The United States will not send American troops to conduct a ground operation in Iran to change the government of the Islamic republic.

As reported by TASS, U.S. Vice President JD Vance made this statement on the podcast of American comedian and TV host Joe Rogan.

"If the people of Iran want to rise up and change their government - that's their business, but we are not going to send 150,000 ground troops," he said. "By proposing to send soldiers, you are essentially saying that the U.S. Armed Forces should do the job for the Iranian people. We don't do that anymore."

According to Vance, the U.S. is currently striving to ensure unimpeded transportation of oil and gas, as well as to "keep Iran from having a nuclear weapons program, using diplomatic and military means."

The politician noted that Iran's renunciation of nuclear weapons in the long term would be a good and valuable achievement for the American administration and its campaign. Vance acknowledged that he cannot predict the future and does not know exactly how events will unfold in the conflict with Iran, but believes that the U.S. is "on the right track." "This is all going to be very messy, there will be many stops and starts," he added.

In Vance's opinion, the shipping problem in the Strait of Hormuz cannot be resolved exclusively through force, and therefore all available tools must be used. "The military is one tool, and diplomacy is another. I am frustrated with Americans and people in other countries who say: 'You can't negotiate with the Iranians.' So what do you suggest - for people to stop shooting at ships in the Strait of Hormuz?" he said.

"You can strike them, you can destroy their radars, shoot down some drones and missiles. But striking at ships is too easy, so you really need to express willingness for dialogue and try to solve the problem," the U.S. Vice President stated.

He also stated that there are forces in Israel seeking to prolong the war with Iran. At the same time, Vance emphasized that claims that Israel is allegedly blackmailing American President Donald Trump in some way, including on the Iran issue, do not correspond to reality.
