The authors note that India and Pakistan are in the highest risk group for nuclear conflict. The main reasons are the long-standing Kashmir dispute and the countries' comparable arsenals. Pakistan's doctrine with a low threshold for nuclear weapons use causes particular concern.

In addition, China may be drawn into two potential conflicts at once. The first is a possible confrontation with Taiwan, which, according to experts, will be a serious test for the international system and American guarantees to allies. The second hotspot is the border conflict with India, rooted in the colonial era, where a high risk of escalation remains due to the lack of deterrence mechanisms and mutual distrust.

Western analysts are also considering a hypothetical Russian attack on the Baltic states, which would test NATO and undermine confidence in Western security guarantees.

In North Korea, the instability of Kim Jong Un's regime and its reliance on nuclear weapons make a potential crisis particularly difficult to predict.
