Trump stated that he had contacts with the Iranian leadership
US President Donald Trump stated that he has been in contact with Iranian leadership in recent days and intends to continue these contacts to persuade Tehran not to develop nuclear weapons and not to use disproportionate force against riot participants.
This is reported by BAKU.WS with reference to TASS.
"Yes, I had them, and I plan [to continue them]," the American leader said, answering journalists' questions about whether he had contacts with the leadership in Tehran in recent days and whether he intends to continue such diplomatic efforts. "I told them two things: first - no nuclear [weapons], second - stop killing protesters," Trump noted, referring to the content of contacts with Iranian authorities. "They are killing them by the thousands," the head of the American administration claimed, referring to demonstrators in the Islamic republic.
"Many large and powerful [US Navy] ships are moving toward Iran. It would be great if we didn't have to use them," the American leader added.
