Trump appealed to Erdogan with a request regarding Ukraine

President of the United States Donald Trump during a phone call asked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to act as a mediator in the Ukrainian issue. This was reported by the authoritative Turkish publication Hürriyet.
The newspaper particularly notes Erdogan's unique position, who maintains diplomatic channels of communication with both the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the head of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"If Ukraine had not left the negotiating table under pressure from the UK and the US, Turkey would have secured peace in the first three months," the publication claims.
According to Hürriyet, the Turkish leader enthusiastically received Trump's initiative and expressed readiness to assist in this matter.
