US President Donald Trump announced that he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, Hungary, to see if it is possible to put an end to "this inglorious war between Russia and Ukraine".

He wrote about this on Truth Social.

Before this, there will be a meeting between Putin's and Trump's advisers, with the American delegation headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The location of their meeting has not yet been determined.

"Tomorrow I will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office, where we will discuss my conversation with President Putin and much more. I believe that today's telephone conversation has allowed us to achieve significant progress," Trump added.

The US President said that Putin congratulated him on ending the war between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, "which, according to him, they had dreamed of for centuries." Trump expressed confidence that achieving peace in the Middle East will help in negotiations to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Recall, the leaders last met in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15.
