Archival documents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) concerning the assassination of American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. have been declassified in the USA. The documents appeared on the website of the National Archives of the country.
The publication states that the archive is working with other federal agencies to review records related to the assassination of the American politician.
In total, the authorities have declassified 230 thousand files.
Recall that on January 23, White House head Donald Trump signed an order to declassify documents about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
In addition, the American president also ordered the declassification of materials about the assassination of the 35th US President John Kennedy and his brother Robert.
Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most famous leaders of the African American civil rights movement in the 20th century. He was killed on April 4, 1968, in Memphis at the age of 39, which provoked a huge wave of protests across the country. Despite the fact that repeatedly convicted James Earl Ray was sentenced to 99 years in prison for the politician's murder, King's death has been shrouded in various conspiracy theories for decades.
