The President of Nepal has resigned
Nepal's President Ramchandra Paudel has resigned following Prime Minister Sharma Oli amid mass protests that erupted over the decision to block Western online platforms, reports India Today.
The rallies have been dubbed "Generation Z protests" as many young people took to the streets. India Today cites a statement from "Generation Z" (Gen Zers) in which the protesters claim that power has passed into their hands, and the prime minister's resignation "opened the way for a new political solution."
"This country has come under our leadership. No damage has been done to public property. Let's move forward patiently. [...] Our minimum position is to form a civil government led by a widely recognized person and hold new elections. Through this, we will be able to create a Nepal with a secure future for ourselves," the statement says.
