The pilot of the Air India aircraft that crashed in India sent a distress signal just one minute after takeoff. This information was reported by Ani News agency.
According to available data, air traffic controllers immediately attempted to establish communication with the aircraft commander after receiving the signal, but all attempts were unsuccessful. The tragic events unfolded rapidly - shortly after losing contact, the airliner crashed in a densely populated residential area.
The air disaster occurred on June 12. The plane was operating an international flight from Ahmedabad Airport (Gujarat state) to London. There were 242 passengers on board whose fate was put in danger. The aircraft crashed in the Meganinagar residential area, located in close proximity to the airport. According to the preliminary version, the airliner hit a tall tree, which led to the subsequent fall. Despite the scale of the disaster, some passengers managed to survive - they were promptly delivered to medical facilities.
Shocking footage of the moment of the crash also appeared online. The video clearly shows the plane rapidly descending, flying dangerously close to residential buildings, and then colliding with structures.
