Scientists warned about a new natural threat

Scientists sound the alarm: global warming may lead to unexpected and dangerous consequences. The reduction of the ice cover on the planet decreases pressure on magmatic chambers, which significantly increases the risk of volcanic eruptions in various regions of the world. This is reported by "Komsomolskaya Pravda".

The situation in West Antarctica causes the greatest concern, where under a multi-kilometer layer of ice hides a real "powder keg" - more than a hundred volcanoes that may activate with further melting of glaciers.

Scientists' concerns are supported by historical evidence: about 13 thousand years ago, a similar scenario already unfolded in Chile, where the melting of the ice cover provoked a series of powerful volcanic eruptions.
