As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", the Nizhny Novgorod State Academic Puppet Theater officially confirmed the information about the death of the 79-year-old actress. According to the search team "Lynx", Shelmenkina went to the forest in the Semenovsky district on August 7 and stopped communicating.

"Recently, the woman was found dead," the publication reports.

The farewell ceremony for the talented actress was held on Tuesday, August 19, at 12:00 in the church of St. Blessed Matrona of Moscow.

Sofya Shelmenkina was born in 1946 and was a graduate of the Gorky Theater School. She began her creative career at the Stavropol Puppet Theater, where she worked until 1968. Then the artist moved to the Gorky Puppet Theater, to which she "gave 53 years of her life to the stage." During her brilliant career, Shelmenkina brought to life more than forty roles on stage.
