Turkey's Ministry of Defense has announced the deployment of the NATO air defense system – Patriot – in the province of Malatya amid the continuing rise of tensions in the Middle East.

As reported by BAKU.WS citing the ministry's statement, the system has been deployed as part of measures to strengthen the security of Turkey's borders and airspace.

"Turkey is taking the necessary measures to protect the country and its citizens, and is conducting consultations with NATO and its allies. In addition to measures taken at the national level, NATO has strengthened air and missile defense measures. In this context, a Patriot system has been deployed in Malatya to support the protection of airspace," the ministry's statement reads.

The Ministry of Defense also noted that Turkey will continue to assess the development of the situation together with NATO and its allies and take steps to ensure regional peace and stability in the region.
