The Basmanny Court of Moscow gave investigators permission to seize documents at two addresses in southern Russia as part of the investigation into the Embraer 190 aircraft disaster of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), which occurred in December 2024.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to RIA Novosti, the corresponding petition was filed by the investigator in January 2025 and received support from the prosecutor. After examining the case materials, the court recognized the request as justified and issued a decision on the seizure of documents, which came into force.

The tragedy happened on December 25, 2024. There were 67 people on board, of whom 38 died. According to preliminary data, the cause of the crash was external physical and technical impact.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan presented a preliminary report on the incident on February 4, 2025, 41 days after the disaster. The country's authorities intend to complete the preparation of the final report on the causes of the accident by December 2025. Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev clarified that in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization, one year is allocated for the investigation.
