Man was declared "dead" twice

New York (USA) resident Gene Indenbaum faced an absurd situation: over the past three years, he has been declared dead twice.
This was reported by the local TV channel News12.
Indenbaum first learned about his "death" in 2022 when, after his wife's passing, he decided to put his documents in order. However, at the Social Security Administration, they shocked him with a statement: "We are sorry for your loss, but you are dead." It turned out that according to the documents, Gene was listed as deceased.
Recently, the story repeated itself: when trying to file a tax return, the man received a call from the US Tax Service informing him that he was listed as deceased in the database. "I was so upset," Indenbaum admitted.
Due to the bureaucratic error, the American had to spend several months proving to various institutions that he was alive. He needed to restore his health insurance and credit cards. Now Gene fears that the problem will arise every time he files tax returns.
