It has been revealed how much the war with Iran is costing the USA
The cost of the U.S. military campaign against Iran has reached $37.5 billion.
As reported by Oxu.Az with reference to Reuters, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated this at a congressional hearing.
According to him, the amount includes expenses already incurred and projected costs through the end of the fiscal year - September 30.
The Pentagon did not disclose details of how this amount was calculated. Last month, the Donald Trump administration requested nearly $90 billion in additional funding from Congress, most of which is related to the conflict in the Middle East.
The request drew criticism from Democrats. Senator Patty Murray stated that the U.S. president is "threatening escalation and another endless war," while Senator Kirsten Gillibrand accused the administration of making contradictory statements about the progress of the conflict.
Hegseth warned that without additional funding, the Pentagon would have to cut military training. He also urged approval of the department's budget for 2027 in the amount of $1.5 trillion, stating that it is necessary to maintain U.S. military superiority.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine noted that the conflict is straining the Pentagon's budget and could complicate funding for maintenance and development of new weapons systems.
