Iran refused to hold negotiations with the USA
Iran will not hold a second round of negotiations with the US until American armed forces lift the naval blockade.
As reported by Kommersant, this was stated by Iranian parliament member Ahmad Naderi.
Earlier, CNN reported that Iran-US negotiations were scheduled to take place on April 22 in Islamabad.
According to Ahmad Naderi, the Iranian delegation did not travel to Pakistan. "The information about the presence of our team at the negotiations is a complete lie," he said on the Iranian television channel SNN.
The Iranian side has not yet confirmed participation in a new round of negotiations, said Iran's Minister of Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. "Pakistan has made sincere efforts to convince the Iranian leadership to participate in the second round of negotiations, and these efforts are continuing," he wrote on social media platform X.
According to Reuters sources, US Vice President JD Vance has not yet departed for negotiations in Pakistan, but the American delegation plans to fly to Islamabad in the near future.
The ceasefire between Iran and the US expires on April 22. The previous negotiations took place in Islamabad on April 11. The sides did not reach an agreement on the issues of Iran's nuclear program and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Afterward, the US began a naval blockade of Iran. On April 17, Tehran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, but the following day restored military control over it.
