In the USA, a patient died during surgery while doctors were playing musical bingo

In the American state of Colorado, medical professionals were playing a music game during surgery and did not notice when the patient's vital signs deteriorated. This was reported by HealthExec.
A 56-year-old patient came to the clinic to have a cataract removed. He was operated on by surgeon S. Stark Johnson, with anesthesiologist Michael Urban participating in the procedure.
During the intervention, as had happened before, Johnson turned on music. It was later revealed that at this time, he and his colleague were playing musical bingo, guessing tracks from the 1970s and 1980s.
At some point, the patient's condition worsened, but the specialists did not notice this because of the game. The man died during the operation.
The patient's wife filed a lawsuit. Despite the fact that both admitted to listening to music in the workplace, only Johnson is named in the proceedings.
The surgeon himself claims that the anesthesiologist allegedly turned off the monitor that would have allowed them to track the man's condition. His colleague Urban did not admit guilt.
The resolution reached by the parties has not been reported, as the case was settled out of court.
