On Friday morning, September 19, three Russian MiG-31 fighters crossed Estonian airspace without permission near Vaindloo Island and remained there for about 12 minutes.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to err.ee, this was announced by the press service of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces.

According to the department, the aircraft had no flight plans, their transponders were turned off, and there was no communication with Estonian air traffic controllers.

In connection with the incident, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Chargé d'Affaires to express protest and present a note.

"Today's invasion, during which three fighters entered our airspace, is unprecedentedly brazen," emphasized Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

It is noted that this is already the fourth violation of Estonian airspace by Russian military aircraft this year.
