Ministry of Emergency Situations addressed the public in connection with bad weather
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Azerbaijan has issued an appeal to the population in connection with adverse weather conditions.
As reported by the MES, unstable weather conditions are currently being observed across the country, including heavy rains, gusty winds, and lightning in certain areas. This situation is forecast to persist until the morning.
In light of this, the ministry once again reminded the public of the relevant safety rules:
"To protect against possible mudslides and flooding in some rivers due to precipitation, it is recommended to stay away from areas prone to mudslides and floods, and if faced with such danger, to immediately move to the nearest elevated ground.
In addition, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from lightweight and temporary structures, buildings and billboards, to avoid standing near electric poles and wires, as well as tall trees.
Also, operators of small vessels should be aware that going out to sea in such weather conditions is prohibited.
Furthermore, to protect against lightning-related hazards, it is recommended to unplug electrical appliances during a thunderstorm, not to talk on the phone (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), while outdoors not to approach power lines, lightning rods, drainpipes, and antennas, and not to take shelter under tall trees. While in a car, one should stop driving, raise the windows, and wait for the thunderstorm to end."
