Anomalous magnetic storm recorded on Earth

An anomalous magnetic storm has been recorded on our planet, which will continue intermittently until the morning of April 17. This was reported by well-known meteorologist Evgeny Tishkovets during a broadcast on the "Solovyov Live" channel.
The specialist explained that the cause of the magnetic disturbance was a powerful impact of two "enormous" solar prominences on Earth's magnetosphere. According to Tishkovets, this phenomenon can have a serious effect on the well-being of weather-sensitive people, as well as significantly worsen the transmission conditions of shortwave radio communications over the next day. In addition, residents of middle latitudes may witness a rare natural phenomenon - the northern lights.
On the morning of April 16, the laboratory of solar astronomy at IKI and ISTP SB RAS confirmed information about the magnetic storm, reporting the registration of planetary field fluctuations at level G2.3. Scientists noted that "the predicted peak has already been confirmed, however, repeated surges" of magnetic activity are possible.
It is worth recalling that at the end of March, a flare of the highest X-class was registered on the Sun, the power of which was so great that solar energy emissions could be observed even without special equipment. According to preliminary expert assessments, that phenomenon did not pose a danger to our planet. At the same time, scientists suggested that part of the energy could have been screened by the solar disk, and the real power of the flare exceeded the officially recorded indicators.
