Enthusiast engineer Luke Maximo Bell has developed a quadcopter capable of flying exclusively on solar energy. The design uses a large carbon frame with 18-inch propellers, providing the necessary space and lift for mounting solar panels.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Gazeta.ru, Bell demonstrated his invention on the YouTube channel Luke Maximo Bell.

"I optimized every part of this drone to maximize its efficiency and bring the idea of powering a quadcopter from solar energy to life," says the video description.

The aircraft is equipped with 27 ultra-thin photovoltaic modules, combined into a 9 by 3 grid and mounted on a lightweight supporting structure. Due to its minimal weight, the drone demonstrates stable flight when powered directly from the solar panels without using batteries.

It is noted that the current prototype has limited durability - one of the array elements was damaged by the developer's cat walking on the overturned device. The project author plans to improve the design by adding additional panels, a buffer battery, and an autonomous control system in an attempt to set a world record for drone flight duration.
