Unexpected harm of constantly skipping breakfast has been determined

The habit of skipping breakfast or having dinner late in the evening can increase the likelihood of developing osteoporosis and related fractures. This conclusion was reached by researchers from Nara Medical University (Japan), who analyzed data from 927 thousand adults. The results of the work are published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society.
Osteoporosis is a chronic disease in which bones become fragile and break easily. Usually, risk factors include low physical activity, smoking, and alcohol abuse. However, new research shows that disruption of the normal eating schedule is also associated with weakening of bone tissue.
Scientists noted that skipping breakfast and late dinners were often accompanied by other unhealthy habits - a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, and lack of sleep. All of these together increased the likelihood of fractures in the hip, forearm, spine, and shoulder areas.
The authors emphasize: for the prevention of osteoporosis, it is important not only to consume foods rich in calcium and other beneficial substances but also to maintain a healthy daily routine and diet. Such a comprehensive approach can help maintain bone strength and reduce the risk of age-related damage.
