The only blood type that is salvation for everyone
Be the first to know
In the world of medicine, there exists a unique phenomenon - a blood type capable of saving any person, regardless of their own blood type. This is the O(I) blood type with a negative Rhesus factor - better known as O negative (O Rh−).
This blood type is considered a universal donor for transfusions because it lacks the A, B, and Rh antigens that can trigger an immune response in the recipient. This is why in emergency situations, when there is no time to determine the victim's blood type, doctors use O negative blood.
However, despite its universality, O negative blood is found in only 6-7% of the world's population, making it incredibly valuable. Blood transfusion stations around the world regularly call on people with this rare blood type to become donors, as their blood can save thousands of lives.
Medical professionals remind us: regular blood donation is not only an act of humanity but also an opportunity to help the healthcare system be prepared for the most unexpected situations. Donors with O Rh− are especially important, as their blood can literally become salvation for everyone.
