Shocking discovery: heat accelerates body aging

According to the results of a new scientific study, the climate in the place where you live can affect the rate of your aging. This is observed even at the cellular level.
Scientists have found accelerated biological aging in people who live in regions with more frequent cases of extreme heat. This means their cells age faster than those who live in cooler regions. More details are provided in an article published in the journal Science Advances.
As part of the new study, experts used blood samples taken from 3679 participants aged 56 and older. All these people were included in the national health and retirement study.
Phoenix and Tucson in southern Arizona, Brownsville and Laredo in southern Texas, as well as Miami and Tampa in Florida were the hottest regions in the study. People who lived there were biologically older by up to 14 months compared to participants who were in regions with fewer than 10 hot days per year.
