Several everyday habits turned out to be harmful for sleep

Ordinary actions that many people do without thinking can seriously undermine the quality of night rest, warns Russian therapy specialist Babak Ashrafi. This is reported by Metro publication.
The medical expert emphasizes that eating food late in the evening significantly reduces sleep quality. According to his observations, a heavy evening meal, especially including fatty and heavy dishes, can provoke unpleasant sensations such as heartburn, heaviness in the stomach and, as a result, disrupt full night rest. In addition, Ashrafi recommends those who want to sleep well to completely exclude caffeinated drinks after noon and control their consumption throughout the day. According to the doctor, the safe daily norm of coffee should not exceed 400 milliliters.
Another common habit that negatively affects sleep, the therapist considers postponing getting up after the alarm goes off. He explains that moving the wake-up time half an hour forward in order to extend sleep and feel more alert leads to the opposite result. Ashrafi explains that this is due to the brain's inability to complete a full sleep cycle in a short period of time, which causes a person to feel even more drowsiness and fatigue. "Try to set the alarm for the time when you really need to wake up - and get up immediately," advises the medic.
