Even the most modern dental implants are unable to fully replicate all the functions of a natural tooth. This was explained by implant surgeon Nikolai Geraskov, who outlined the key differences between an artificial structure and a natural tooth.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to RIA Novosti, a person's own tooth is a complex living system closely connected to the surrounding tissues and bone structure. According to the Russian specialist, an important role is played by the periodontium - a special ligament apparatus located between the tooth root and the bone. It is this structure that functions as a natural shock absorber, helping to distribute the load during chewing and transmitting information about pressure force to the body.

The expert noted that an implant operates on a different principle. After installation, it reliably integrates into the bone tissue and becomes a sturdy support for a prosthesis, but it does not have an equivalent of the periodontium. Because of this, the artificial root lacks the ability to respond to load as flexibly as a natural tooth.

At the same time, the doctor emphasized that modern implants effectively restore chewing function, are distinguished by their durability, and allow patients to maintain their usual lifestyle. Nevertheless, according to the specialist, even the highest-quality constructions cannot fully replicate all the biological characteristics of a natural tooth and its interaction with the body.
