Cardiologist named a way to recognize an approaching myocardial infarction
Myocardial infarction can occur without warning symptoms or precursors, noted cardiologist, anesthesiologist-resuscitator Anton Vakhlyaev. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to the doctor, a precursor of an approaching heart attack may be the appearance of "angina pectoris" pains, that is, stenocardia, and pain behind the sternum during physical exertion. "Gradually physical activity decreases, and pains become more frequent, pain attacks last longer - this is the classic picture of ischemic heart disease," explained Vakhlyaev.
He attributed obesity and high blood pressure to risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes.
Vakhlyaev emphasized that with the development of modern medicine, people have stopped fearing heart attacks. However, cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death among the working-age population due to natural causes and surpass cancer in this indicator.
