Olympic medals of Azerbaijani athletes from Paris 2024 will be sent for replacement

The procedure for the return and replacement of medals won by Azerbaijani athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, which subsequently underwent oxidation, has been launched.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), the International Olympic Committee addressed this issue to the medal manufacturer - the jewelry house Chaumet, which is part of the LVMH company.

The company reported that the replacement order has been placed in queue, and the process of replacing damaged medals is being carried out in stages. Currently, the turn has come for the replacement of medals belonging to Azerbaijani athletes. In the coming days, the NOC will send the medals to France, where they will be replaced with new ones.

Priority will be given to sending the medals of taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov and Greco-Roman wrestling medalist Khasrat Jafarov.

According to the information, the production time for the new medals will be approximately three to five weeks.
