Judo World Championship: Ushanghi Kokauri advances to the final

Azerbaijani judoka Ushangi Kokauri confidently advanced to the final of the World Judo Championship, while his teammate Jamal Gamzatkhanov lost in the semifinal bout.

As reported by Oxu.Az, in the semifinal of the over 100 kilogram weight category, Kokauri faced Finland's Martti Puumalainen. The experienced Azerbaijani athlete secured a convincing victory and earned a spot in the decisive bout of the tournament.

In the same weight category, Jamal Gamzatkhanov lost in the semifinal to the reigning world champion, Russian Inal Tasoev. Tasoev, considered one of the main favorites of the tournament, confirmed his status by advancing to the final.

Thus, the super heavyweight final will feature Ushangi Kokauri against Inal Tasoev, promising spectators a thrilling showdown. Meanwhile, an unusual situation will occur in the bronze medal bout — two representatives of Azerbaijan will face each other: Kanan Nasibov and Jamal Gamzatkhanov. This means that at least one bronze medal in this category is guaranteed for the Azerbaijani team.
