Azerbaijani judoka Madina Kaisinova has concluded her performance at the World Championship.
As reported by Oxu.Az, our athlete, competing in the over 78 kg weight category, faced Italy's Asya Tavano in the round of 16.
The bout ended with a victory for the Italian judoka. Thus, Kaisinova finished the World Championship without a medal.
Azerbaijani judoka Jamal Gamzatkhanov began his performance at the World Judo Championship with a confident victory, setting a high bar from the very first minutes of the tournament.
As reported by Oxu.Az, the athlete, competing in the heaviest men's weight category - over 100 kilograms - faced Chile's Francisco Solis in the round of 32.
Gamzatkhanov demonstrated superior technique and power, securing an early victory by ippon - the highest score in judo, which immediately ends the bout.
Thanks to this victory, the Azerbaijani heavyweight successfully advanced to the next stage of the competition.
Today, 4 more Azerbaijani judokas will join the competition at the World Judo Championship in Baku.
As reported by Oxu.Az, among women, Madina Kaisinova (+78 kg), and among men, Jamal Gamzatkhanov, Ushangi Kokauri, and Kanan Nasibov (all three +100 kg) will join the competition.
Kaisinova will begin the competition from the round of 16. Her first opponent will be Italy's Asya Tavano.
Gamzatkhanov, starting at the mundial from the round of 32, will face Chilean judoka Francisco Solis.
Kokauri and Nasibov will join the competition from the round of 16 stage. Kokauri's opponent will be Kyrgyzstan's Emirkhan Yoldoshkazyev. Nasibov will face the winner of the bout between Losseni Kone (Germany) and Vidak Malevich (Serbia).
