Gurban Gurbanov: The referees seem to be under pressure

The head coach of the Aghdam football club "Qarabag," Gurban Gurbanov, commented on the refereeing decisions in the Misli Premier League of Azerbaijan that have sparked discussions.

As reported by Oxu.Az, the specialist made this statement after the 26th round match between "Qarabag" and "Karvan-Yevlakh."

According to G. Gurbanov, it seems as though there is no specific standard for referees in Azerbaijan.

"In some matches, the referees' decisions raise questions. A decision made in one game does not match the verdict on a similar episode in another. I believe that a clear standard for refereeing decisions must be established in Azerbaijan. I don't know whether there are too many requirements or new rules are being introduced in world football. The referees are somewhat confused. There should be a unified rule. The language of football is one, and the language of refereeing should also be one. Perhaps there is a need to fully develop. We should have our own school of refereeing. Whatever Europe says, we should also have our own style, our own laws. The referees seem to be under some pressure. May Allah help them. After all, they are the ones who most often become the subject of discussions, and the pressure falls on them. May Allah ease their work," the coach said.

It should be noted that the match, held at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium in Baku, ended with a 7-0 victory for "Qarabag."
