Another Azerbaijani boxer has become European champion
Another representative of Azerbaijan has won a gold medal at the European Boxing Championship for athletes under 17, held in Budva (Montenegro).
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this time Magomedali Istamov (57 kg) stepped onto the highest step of the podium.
In the final, he defeated John Elam (England) with a score of 4:1 (29:28, 30:27, 28:29, 29:28, 29:28).
Thus, the Azerbaijani national team finished the U-17 European Championship with eight medals — two gold, three silver, and three bronze.
Earlier, Jamila Muradli (57 kg) won a gold medal. Silver medalists were Khasrat Mammadov (46 kg), Ismail Nasirzade (52 kg), and Sema Abbasova (66 kg).
Bronze medals were won by Gardash Rahimov (54 kg), Hidayat Mammadov (70 kg), and Khumar Jafarli (over 80 kg).
It should be noted that 473 athletes from 40 countries participated in the championship — 314 boys and 159 girls.
