6 years ago, the fourth missile strike was carried out on Ganja
On October 11, 2020, just a few hours after the ceasefire agreement was signed, at 02:00 local time, the armed forces of Armenia launched a missile strike on the city of Ganja - the second largest city of Azerbaijan - for the fourth time.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the shelling was carried out with Scud-type ballistic missiles from the positions of Armenian troops in the Berd district of Armenia. The missile hit a residential building directly, completely destroying it. Rescue teams arrived at the scene of the incident in the shortest possible time.
"The strike caused serious damage to the city's infrastructure. In total, 31 residential buildings were completely destroyed, and nearby buildings and vehicles were damaged. 95 apartments housing 205 people were affected by the attack. As a result of the missile strike, 10 people were killed and another 40 were injured, with women and children among the victims. Armenia denies its responsibility for this barbaric act," the defense ministry's statement said.
On the same day, Armenian troops also targeted the Mingachevir hydroelectric power station, but the missiles were neutralized by the air defense systems of the Azerbaijani army.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case based on the facts of the missile strikes on Ganja.
It should be recalled that during the second Karabakh war, the Armenian armed forces struck Ganja with missiles and artillery five times (October 4, 5, 8, 11, 17). As a result, 26 people were killed, 175 were injured, and enormous damage was inflicted on the city's infrastructure and transportation.
