NYT revealed details of the US-proposed deal between Russia and Ukraine
World 0

The US has proposed three economic incentives to Russia to persuade Moscow to agree to a partial ceasefire that would involve halting strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure or limiting military operations in the Black Sea.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to The New York Times (NYT), this was disclosed by officials familiar with the discussions.

The first proposal involves unfreezing billions of dollars in Russian assets blocked in the West. According to sources, these funds are being considered as an incentive to achieve a ceasefire, rather than as a reward after one is reached.

The second option involves the sale of a portion of LUKOIL's assets to a group of Middle Eastern investors as part of a multibillion-dollar deal. Among the potential buyers, according to the publication, are individuals with business ties to American negotiators.

The third initiative concerns allowing Belarus to export potash fertilizers. According to sources, the discussion of this issue was revived by US presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

For its part, Ukraine proposed that Washington allocate to Kyiv a sum equal to the amount of unfrozen Russian assets, or provide guarantees of additional military aid in the event of a ceasefire violation.
