Verdict announced for defendant accused of attempted murder of young stepson

The trial of Rashad Ismayilov, accused of attempting to murder a young child with extreme cruelty in Baku, has concluded in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

As Oxu.Az reports, the verdict was delivered at the final hearing presided over by Judge Leyla Askerova-Mamedova.

The court sentenced R.Ismayilov to 15 years of imprisonment.

Recall that the prosecutor had requested 16 years of imprisonment for the defendant.

Note that the incident occurred in the Turkan settlement in September last year. A resident of the settlement reported to the police that her acquaintance named Rashad woke up her 6-year-old son at night, began torturing the child without reason, and inflicted various bodily injuries on him.

Officers from the Khazar District Police Department detained R.Ismayilov (born 1987).

He was charged under Article 120.2.4 (attempted murder with extreme cruelty) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
