On October 27, 2010, a trilateral Azerbaijan-Armenia-Russian summit was held in Astrakhan with the participation of the presidents of these states - Ilham Aliyev, Serzh Sargsyan and Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in this city to try to somehow bring positions closer in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. On the same day, another significant event took place on the embankment of the Privolzhsky backwater - the ceremonial opening of a monument to Heydar Aliyev, who, as is known, made a significant contribution to the development of friendly and economic ties between the Astrakhan region and Azerbaijan.

"Since then, our country and this Russian region have been connected not only by the waves of a common sea, we have somehow become even closer to each other and, we are not afraid to say this word, even more like family. Every year, on the eve of another anniversary of Heydar Aliyev's birth, a large delegation from Azerbaijan went to Astrakhan to celebrate this date. Guests from this region delighted our country with return visits. It would seem that here it is, another wonderful tradition, which we now only need to develop, appreciate and protect from the evil eye.

But, unfortunately, in the Russian political establishment there were also those who, apparently, did not live very comfortably with the feeling of strengthening friendly relations between our countries and who were very eager to shake them up, creating tension, as they say, out of nowhere. What else can you call the demarche that occurred last Sunday? Without going into details, we will simply remind you that Azer Badamov, a deputy of the Milli Mejlis, who was heading to Astrakhan as part of the Azerbaijani delegation according to the May tradition, was detained at Moscow airport, informed that he is now "banned from entering Russia," and sent back home on a return flight," the material says.
