JOYFUL news for Baku metro users

By 2030, the purchase of 300 new cars for the Baku metro is planned.
As BAKU.WS reports, Emil Akhmedov, advisor to the chairman of Baku Metro CJSC, told journalists about large-scale plans for the development of the underground.
According to him, it has not yet been determined from which country the cars will be purchased: "Negotiations are currently underway. The cars will be purchased after reaching an agreement with one of the European countries."
Akhmedov also noted that from this year, the separation of the Red and Green lines of the Baku metro is envisaged: "This will allow each line to function independently, improve management efficiency and the quality of passenger transportation. For this purpose, a tunnel about 200 meters long will be built between the 'Jafar Jabbarli' and 'Nizami' stations, which will ensure the independent operation of the lines. For more efficient regulation of passenger flow, an additional passage between the '28 May' and 'Jafar Jabbarli' stations will also be built."
The chairman's advisor emphasized that one of the key projects is the construction of the "Dernegul" electric depot: "This depot will meet all standards and ensure the completely independent functioning of the Green Line. At the same time, two new substations will be built near the 'Nizami' and 'Jafar Jabbarli' stations for sustainable power supply, and the outdated Red Line substation will be updated. Also, train turnarounds will be provided at the 'Icherisheher' and 'Khatai' stations."
"Upon completion of the line separation project, the train schedule will become more optimal, intervals will be reduced, and the efficiency of passenger transportation will increase. As a result, intervals on the Red Line will be reduced to 2 minutes, and on the Green Line - to 2 minutes 30 seconds," Akhmedov concluded.
