In Azerbaijan, a new ban has come into force from today

Due to the spawning period of fish and other aquatic bioresources, a moratorium on industrial fishing in the Kura River, Lake Sarysu, Mingachevir, Shamkir, Araz, and Yenikend reservoirs comes into force from today.
As reported by BAKU.WS, a representative of the Biodiversity Conservation Service, Arzu Babayeva, stated that the ban on industrial fishing and other aquatic bioresources in inland waters will last until September 1.
According to the service representative, those engaged in sport and recreational fishing do not need to purchase a fishing license; they can fish within the conditions established by legislation.
"For violation of the rules for fishing and other aquatic bioresources, including illegal fishing, the guilty persons are liable in accordance with the procedure provided for by the Code of Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code," emphasized Arzu Babayeva.
A. Babayeva also noted that in order to prevent illegal fishing, control measures are regularly carried out in the country's inland waters jointly with the Water Transport Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Biodiversity Conservation Service and the Water Transport Police Department urge citizens engaged in fishing to comply with the rules, refrain from fishing during prohibited times, with prohibited equipment, and to preserve fish stocks.
