Trump Suggested Toughening Approach to Iran if Republicans Lose

U.S. President Donald Trump once again announced plans to end the war against Iran immediately after the November congressional elections, while not ruling out a toughening of Washington's approach to the conflict in the event of a Republican defeat.

He said this in an interview with Fox News.

"The war will end right after the midterm elections," he noted.

Journalist Laura Ingraham asked him to clarify whether this would happen both in the case of a Republican victory and in the case of a defeat.

"I think many people believe that if we (the Republicans - editor's note) lose, I'll get angrier and just go ahead and deal with it. That's also an option. Either way, they (the Iranians - editor's note) will be defeated," the U.S. President responded.

The midterm elections for the legislative body will be held on November 3, with 33 of the 100 Senate seats and all 435 members of the House of Representatives up for reelection.
