In the settlement of Sabunchi, there are hundreds of residential houses built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Due to their expired service life, they are not suitable for comfortable living.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Qafqazinfo, this was stated by deputy Fazil Mustafa during the discussion of the "Report on the activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2024" at today's plenary session of the Milli Mejlis.

According to the deputy, there are about 209 dilapidated buildings in Bakikhanov and Sabunchi.

"Only for 47 apartment buildings, documents confirming their emergency condition were drawn up based on the relevant acts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. For the rest, drawing up acts creates difficulties. Because there must be funds for this, there must be appeals. It is also a fact that due to the lack of such funds in the executive authorities, it is impossible to implement this. But Azerbaijani citizens live in all these buildings. In order not to regret tomorrow if any incident occurs, we must already be working seriously on solving this problem now. Residents of 174 dilapidated 2 and 3-story buildings are waiting for this issue to be resolved somehow. Entrepreneurs should be involved in this issue.

Even in demolished emergency houses, a citizen is paid 1300 manats. A citizen living in a 3-room apartment cannot go and buy a 3-room house. Because they give him 80-100 thousand, while the real market price is 200 thousand. They are forced to build illegal structures and residential houses in the suburbs. This leads to serious problems between the executive authority and citizens," noted F. Mustafa.
