Ilham Aliyev received the Minister of State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

On August 25, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the Minister of State for Europe, North America and Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Stephen Doughty.
As reported by BAKU.WS, Stephen Doughty congratulated the head of state on the historic results achieved in Washington in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and advancing the peace agenda, expressing his country's readiness to support this process. The guest also touched upon the significance of the results achieved in Washington regarding regional transport connections.
Stephen Doughty congratulated Azerbaijan on the high level of hosting COP29 last year and the successes achieved.
The head of our state thanked him for the congratulations. President Ilham Aliyev said that he would continue efforts to advance Azerbaijan's peace agenda and the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
The head of state recalled the visit of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Keir Starmer, to Azerbaijan during the COP29 conference and the meeting held with him.
During the conversation, views were exchanged on the prospects for developing ties between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, and satisfaction was expressed with the current state of political relations between the two countries. It was noted that there are broad prospects for cooperation in economic, trade, educational spheres, in the field of information and communication technologies, and other areas. The ties between Azerbaijan and Great Britain in the energy sector were discussed, and in this context, more than 30 years of fruitful cooperation between our country and bp was noted, emphasizing that it is being successfully implemented in both traditional and renewable energy. Hope was expressed for the successful continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with bp in the coming decades.
In conclusion, the guest presented a commemorative gift to the head of state.
