Cardiologist listed habits that increase the risk of stroke
Society 33

Cardiologist Ilkin Gasanov spoke about everyday habits that significantly increase the risk of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

According to the doctor, one of the main threats to vascular health is excessive salt consumption. It retains fluid in the body and increases blood pressure. Gasanov identified smoking as an equally dangerous habit. "Each cigarette damages the walls of blood vessels, contributes to their narrowing, and makes blood more viscous. The risk of stroke in smokers is two to four times higher, especially with hypertension or elevated cholesterol," the cardiologist noted.

The list of risk factors also includes improper nutrition, chronic stress, sleep deficiency, alcohol abuse, and a sedentary lifestyle. At the same time, as the specialist emphasized, it is enough to devote at least 30 minutes a day to moderate physical activity - such as walking, swimming, yoga, or cycling - to significantly reduce the risk of stroke.

Additionally, Gasanov reminded about the importance of regular medical check-ups, monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol levels, as well as quitting harmful habits. According to him, simple preventive measures can preserve not only health but also life.
