Baku court issued a verdict in the case of espionage in favor of Armenia

The trial of Emin Gasymzade, accused of crimes against the constitutional order of Azerbaijan, has concluded.
As APA reports, the verdict was announced today in the Baku Court of Serious Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Telman Huseynov.
According to the sentence, E.Gasymzade will spend 15 years behind bars.
As follows from the investigation materials, the accused established secret contacts with official structures of Armenia through social networks. The State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan conducted a thorough investigation of E.Gasymzade's activities. It was established that the latter transmitted information that could be used against the state security and interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In addition, E.Gasymzade actively used his social media pages for public calls against the state and incitement of national hatred on the territory of the republic.
The investigation established that the defendant carried out specific assignments from his Armenian handlers, sending them photographs of the city of Shusha and other strategically important territories, as well as transmitting other information.
E.Gasymzade was brought to criminal responsibility under Articles 274 (high treason), 281.2 (public calls directed against the state) and 283.1 (incitement of national, racial, social or religious hatred and enmity on the grounds of religious enmity, religious radicalism or fanaticism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
