16 years have passed since the terrorist attack at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy (ASOA, now - Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry).

On April 30, 2009, an armed terrorist - Georgian citizen Farda Asad oglu Gadirov (born 1980), entered the building of the second campus of ASOA, located at: Baku city, Dilyara Aliyeva street, 227. The criminal, moving from the first floor to the sixth, shot with a Makarov pistol at everyone who crossed his path. As a result of the monstrous terrorist attack, 12 people were killed, 13 received injuries of varying severity.

Then the shooter committed suicide.

Immediately after the incident, an investigative task force was created, consisting of employees from the General Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. As a result of the measures taken, individuals who were in criminal association with F. Gadirov were brought to criminal responsibility.

A criminal case was initiated on this fact under articles on terrorism, premeditated murder, smuggling, illegal acquisition, storage, carrying and transportation of firearms, ammunition, as well as illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of narcotic substances of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.

During the investigation, law enforcement agencies discovered that F. Gadirov was carrying out an order from Armenian special services. According to case materials, he was in constant contact with an Armenian named Mardun Gumashyan. F. Gadirov had received a large sum of money and weapons in advance to commit the terrorist attack.

From the criminal case materials, it follows that the person who ordered the terrorist attack at the Oil Academy, Mardun Grigoryevich Gumashyan, was born on March 6, 1951, in the village of Shulaver, Marneuli district of Georgia. He was placed on an international wanted list through Interpol.

According to the decision of the Court for Serious Crimes dated August 10, 2010, the defendants in the case Nadir Aliyev, Javidan Amirov, and Najaf Suleymanov were sentenced to life imprisonment, Ariz Gabulov - to 11 years of imprisonment. Due to the death of the terrorist (suicide), the criminal case against him was terminated.

9. Ruslan Jafar oglu Babashov (born 1990, Sabirabad district);

10. Ayaz Javanshir oglu Bagirov (born 1988, Baku city);

11. Shafa Afet gizi Mammadova (born 1978, Baku city);

12. Savalan Allahverdi oglu Jabbarov (born 1987, Baku city).
