Vladimir Putin thanked Ilham Aliyev
Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan have been and remain very good and friendly.
As reported by TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a meeting with heads of the world's leading news agencies.
"I assess [relations between Russia and Azerbaijan] as very good. We have always had and continue to have friendly relations with Azerbaijan. Both in the economic and political spheres. Just a couple of years ago, we signed a treaty on strategic cooperation. And that is how these relations are developing," the Russian leader gave his assessment.
According to him, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev puts a great deal of effort into filling the treaty on strategic cooperation with Russia with concrete substance.
Putin also emphasized that Russia is grateful to the head of the Azerbaijani state for his assistance in sending Russian humanitarian cargo to Iran.
"We are very grateful to President Aliyev for helping us send humanitarian aid to Iran. It must be said that the Azerbaijani side has done a lot of effective work in this regard, responding instantly to all our requests, and this is very important in order to ease the situation in this area," the Russian leader said.
