The Tbilisi City Court found Afgan Sadygov guilty of committing an offense under Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to APA, the information was disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

According to the information, Sadygov was fined 2,000 lari for insulting a police officer on social media, and a decision was also made to deport him from Georgia and ban him from entering the country for a period of 3 years.

In making its decision, the court took into account the position of representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the fact that Sadygov had committed various administrative offenses 62 times.

"Including violations of the rules for holding assemblies and rallies, and for this reason he had already served administrative detention twice," the statement said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia noted that the decision also took into account the information provided by the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan regarding security risks associated with Afgan Sadygov.

"The Republic of Azerbaijan demanded the extradition of Afgan Sadygov, who had been wanted in recent years in connection with a criminal case. However, by a decision of the European Court of Human Rights, located in Strasbourg, an interim measure was applied against Georgia, and the extradition of Sadygov to Azerbaijan was prohibited. In this regard, the Georgian side refused to extradite him. Several days ago, the Georgian side received information through official sources that the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan, exercising its authority, had discontinued the prosecution in the given criminal case. Accordingly, all extradition procedures were also terminated in Georgia.

At the same time, Sadygov committed an administrative offense for which, in addition to a fine, deportation from Georgia and a ban on entering the country are stipulated. For this reason, he was deported to his country of origin, and he was banned from entering Georgia for a period of 3 years," the statement said.
