Ilham Aliyev: We expect that Congress will cancel this completely absurd amendment

With the Trump administration coming to power, the situation has changed dramatically. Now US-Azerbaijani relations have reached a new level, and we, of course, expect that Congress will repeal this unfair, outdated amendment, which today looks completely absurd.

As reported by AZERTAG, this was stated by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in an interview with local TV channels on January 5.

Noting that today cargo is moving to Armenia from different places through Azerbaijan's territory, roads are open, and even Azerbaijani petroleum products are being exported to Armenia, the head of state said: "If the formal reason for adopting the 907th amendment was the blockade, then today there is no blockade. Therefore, of course, we expect that the Trump administration, using its capabilities, will be able to convince members of Congress, especially members of the Republican Party, of the need to completely repeal this amendment. And we have enough grounds to hope for this."
