Ilham Aliyev explained the reasons why Azerbaijan has not yet become a WTO member
President Ilham Aliyev, in an interview with Chinese TV channel CGTN, explained the reasons why Azerbaijan has not yet become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
This was reported by AZERTAG.
The head of state said that despite actively conducted negotiations over many years, the reason why Azerbaijan is still not a WTO member "lies in protectionism, double standards, and tariffs." "All this destroys the core values of the World Trade Organization," the President added.
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan's economy is self-sufficient, the head of state noted that if all proposals from the Azerbaijani side regarding joining the organization are fulfilled, the process will proceed more smoothly.
