MEDIA: Messages distributed on behalf of Azerbaijani ministers are deepfakes

A number of social media accounts, purportedly on behalf of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, have spread an alleged statement about a supposedly shot down Belarusian aircraft in Russian airspace. These images, created using deep fake technology, do not reflect reality.

As reported by BAKU.WS, this was stated in a statement by the Media Development Agency (MEDİA).

The statement notes that these fake videos, created using artificial intelligence, are a gross example of information manipulation aimed at misleading the public.

"We urge you to trust only information coming from official sources, and to obtain information reflecting the official position of the state through national news agencies and other professional media.

We also call on citizens of Azerbaijan, journalists, and public figures to be principled in such situations and to remain vigilant in the face of the rapid spread of fake campaigns and content created using deep fake technologies."
