Ilham Aliyev congratulated Mahmoud Abbas

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to AZERTAJ, the message states:

"Dear Mr. President,

On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I cordially congratulate you and all your people on the national holiday of the State of Palestine.

The peoples of Azerbaijan and Palestine are united by bonds of friendship and brotherhood. Azerbaijan has always demonstrated solidarity on the Palestinian issue, supports its resolution based on the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with its capital in East Jerusalem and the two-state principle, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and decisions. I express hope that the results of the Middle East Peace Summit held in Sharm el-Sheikh will contribute to ensuring peace, stability and tranquility in the region.

We will continue to provide necessary humanitarian assistance to Palestine. I believe that the friendly relations and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Palestine, built on good traditions, will continue to develop successfully in the future.

On this significant day, I wish you good health, happiness, success in your endeavors, and peace and prosperity to the brotherly Palestinian people".
